    I agree the absence of Buffon will spur the other Azzurri players to try harder and play more as a cohesive unit to compensate for his absence.

    The main concerns are 2:

    - The defensive line is much weaker than the teams from WC 1990 through WC 2006. They are not as solid.

    - Buffon makes the players in front of him grow in confidence with his presence and can sometimes cause strikers to get frustrated with his saves.

    Azzuri is eliminated! How embarassing! What a bunch of underachievers. Time to cheer for a real team…PORTUGAL!!!!

      Yes, I love rooting for Christiano Ronaldo to alternate between flopping and preening. Maybe we can get more Kim Kardashian shots, that in and of itself is a reason to root against Portugal.

        C. Ronaldo rarely delivers for Portugal. I think now Mess is playing good for Argentina but not having the luck to score. Ronaldo on the other hand is just an ordinary player when representing Portugal.
