Genoa forward Luciano Figueroa could be heading back to Argentina if the player agrees with the six-time Copa Libertadores champs. His agent offered the player to the Argentine giants, but there are doubt as to what would his exact function be with the club. Event though the club’s first option was Betis’ Mariano Pavone, the former Villarreal and River Plate man would be able to serve as an insurance policy in the event Rodrigo Palacio finally heads to Europe as that clock is ticking away. His constant history of injuries affected him in these past few years. His latest injury, a torn ACL in his left knee back in 2006 (very similar to Palermo’s) left him out of action for more than a year.

Another option was Anderlecht’s Nicolás Frutos, but Boca brass are looking more and more at the option of having youngsters Ricardo Noir, Nicolás Gaitán, and Lucas Viatri as tehy have immediately responded to the demands of playing for one of the top clubs in the world.

Boca asked for an extension in order to obtain another forward due to the season-ending knee injury of Martín Palermo a little over two weeks ago.
